The target of the Mirtos Animal Project is to help as many homeless animals to get a new home.
They work together with P.A.W.S. Crete, Cretan Animal Protection, Voice of Cats Alliance, Hectors House Crete, MAWS to give shelter to animals brought or found and do their best to find a new owner that is actually looking for an animal.
Their work is admirable to say the least. Crete is full of homeless cats and dogs. Most people that go to Crete know how sweet most of these animals are. And especially now that the economy is down, the citizens of Crete can't always afford to keep on feeding those homeless animals.

I went with a lot of different taxis during my many years on Crete. But the one I enjoyed most(and also trust most) is Taxi-Chania.gr. A small family business.

This small family business try more to satisfy their customers instead of diving into your wallet. They grew because satisfied customers return and also spread the word. And it works, as I'm doing the same here now.
Especially recommended if you need to go further, like on a sightseeing trip, or to ensure you will arrive at the airport in time when your vacation is over. Another positive point is that they can speak English.

Crete is best enjoyed when having your own means of transportation.
